I have been developing my leather work skills for over 30 years. I love the way that leather can be moulded, sewn, and shaped into beautiful works of art that have utility. I operate out of a custom built workshop utilising a variety of leatherwork techniques, tools, and hand operated leather machines. My work has involved saddlery and harnesses, movie props, sets, and costumes; wet form molding, leather braiding, book binding, decorative lacing, leather carving, biker equipment, antique leather restoration, and repair work to leather goods. I particularly enjoy the creative process of designing one-off articles for clients.
Most of my clients visit my workshop to discuss their project, look at the available leather types, grades, and colours, and determine any special features they wish to include to make their product unique. I have a preference for working with antique leather machinery and tools. I find nothing more satisfying than bringing a vintage machine to life again. The images below are the current machines and tools that I work with.
